This backyard was designed to create an interesting, warm space to host and gather, reflective of the unique personality of the amazing family it belonged to. From a custom maker studio, pergola, outdoor lighting, natural-stone accents, patios and patio space, dedicated ping-pong patio, gas-fire place and swinging bench – everything was designed to deliver an amazing family experience for years to come. Like every project at Cudmore’s, form follows function: below grade is a complex and robust drainage system, designed to keep this space resilient against stormwater flooding.
Welcome home
We think coming home should feel like a celebration. Thoughtful, timeless design is fulfilled by quality materials, installed with care. From this newly planted, mature Japanese Maple, to the refinished advanced PVC deck, limestone landing to the lighting design, all the details come together to ‘welcome you home’. There is nothing better than a dramatic before-and-after, underscoring the transformations that are possible with thoughtful design and strong execution.
Curb Appeal Anew
Every site challenge, such as an inverse driveway and an opposite slope to the door, is a design opportunity. In designing and executing a complex drainage system and creating comfortable stable access for our wonderful clients, this beautiful terraced front entry-way was born. Our team installed an offset landing to create interest, weathered natural stone retains the gardens without dominating the landscape and robust gardens designed to ground and soften the home, while reducing erosion. Gently lit for evening way finding and warmth, this is a Cudmore classic.
Two phases, one amazing result
Good results take time. We worked with these amazing clients to phase this project over multiple seasons, delivering refreshed curb appeal at the front and sides of this beautiful corner-lot home, while carefully maintaining access to design and build a new backyard getaway for the backyard the following season. Two seasons of careful planning, followed by years of entertaining and enjoyment.
