who we are

It’s not enough to simply be creative. For us, communication is critical to understanding your vision and addressing anything that may come up along the way. We love solving a good problem and believe that keeping you informed is key. As a family first business (whether or not we all share a last name), we check our egos at the door, treating you and your home with the same care that we’d treat our own loved ones.

That little design detail you loved during our initial discussions – we promise we haven’t forgotten. By the end of our project, we wouldn’t be surprised if you even knew our dogs’ names and favourite lunch items – oh, and we think you’ll be thrilled with your new garden too.

Where We’ve Been

Cudmore’s Landscape & Design is founded on a 30+ year tradition of excellence in service, quality of plants and products, and a love for community. Originally located in the heart of Bronte, Ontario, family-owned Cudmore’s Garden Centre was a space where gardeners of all levels came for unparalleled selection and quality of plants. The tireless efforts of original owners John Cudmore, Kevin Joyce, and Peter Joyce fuelled the green passions of Oakville and Burlington families for generations, while current owner, Will Joyce is proud to carry on the family traditions set forth decades prior.

With its roots in market gardening as far back as 1929, the original store evolved into a garden centre in 1986, from which the tradition of Cudmore’s was carried on into the 21st century by John, Peter, and Kevin, each bringing their own set of skills and experience to the table.

John, after completing the Business Program at Sheridan College, maintained a certificate from Humber College for horticultural excellence. Kevin graduated from the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture – a world-renowned gardening school that stresses plant knowledge and practical applications. Peter, also a graduate of the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture, applied these same philosophies to landscape design services where he spent over 30 years earning a reputation for working closely with clients to create landscapes that were unique, personal, and meaningful.

Together they spent decades cultivating a family focused approach to Cudmore’s Garden Centre, inspiring their loved ones and team members alike. In 2020, Peter passed the creative torch to his son Will Joyce, who in returning to the family business, is proudly continuing the legacy of Cudmore’s Landscape & Design throughout the Golden Horseshoe.
